Environmental Services

Environmental Services is part of the Engineering, Environmental Service and Works Unit of the City. Its services are co-ordinated from the 6th Floor of City Hall. Environmental Services oversees the design, construction and overall management of the City's environmental programs. It facilitates the integration of the City's green initiatives. Environmental Services has a strategic focus on the direction and management of environmental services and initiatives that support future needs and interests of the community. It is responsible for the operation of the Merrick Landfill Site, Material Recovery Facility, Garbage and Blue Box Collection as well as the compliance to environmental laws and regulations. Recycling Information and Blue Box Program and Blue Box Pick-up
Operation of Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility
Operation & Management of the Landfill Sites - (Administration, Tipping Fees, etc.)
Operation of Organic Drop-off and Composting Information
Environmental By-law Administration and Enforcement (Noise, Garbage Collection and Disposal, Sewer use)
Environmental Monitoring
Renewable Energy Projects
Spills - gas, oil, etc.
Water Quality and Water Quantity Studies
